Important note
2.0 is an old version of Sfumato. Development of Sfumato Stitch as a separate plug-in for Embird has been discontinued. New version 3.0 of Sfumato is included in Studio 3.0 software.
 
Old Sfumato 2.0 is still available on this web site, because new Sfumato is used in a very different way. Registration fee US $90 covers both old and new Sfumato. There is only one password that works with both versions. You can use both versions on the same computer.
 
If you are registered user of Sfumato 2.0, please download and install Studio 3.0 and use its new Sfumato part.  You do not have to purchase Studio, your password will enable just its new Sfumato part. There is no upgrade fee.

Multicolor Version 2.0
 for Embird Plus v.7.1 and above

Demo with stitch limit is available for download. This plug-in is not included in basic installation of Embird. You have to download and install it separately.

 

 Sfumato Stitch generates embroidery design (pattern) from photo. Sfumato creates designs with use of small curves of stitches (left picture) that approximate brightness of image. Current version produces designs with up to 22 colors. With our special algorithm for stitches calculation, Sfumato Stitch produces designs with fine detail and crisp edges even at small size. Current version produces designs with size up to 40cm (15.75 inches) and supports hoops of size 10cm (4 inches) and 40 cm (15.75 inches) and multiposition Viking Plus hoop. If you use other hoop, you can produce design in maximum hoop and then select proper hoop in Embird Editor when exporting finished design to chosen embroidery format.

 Usually, photos and pictures must be edited before they are processed by Sfumato Stitch. Sfumato provides tools and functions for image resizing and cleaning (deleting of background), painting tool and functions for image enhancement (equalization, brightness, contrast, gamma correction, sharpness, smoothnes, color balance, saturation).

Sfumato Stitch adjusts brightness of thread colors and density of stitches based on brightness of chosen fabric color. The layout of stitches is different in each case shown on above picture. On a bright color fabric, the dark areas are stitched. On dark fabric, the bright areas are stitched. On a medium dark fabric, both dark and bright areas are stitched, leaving a blank area between them to form another shade.

  • Saturation and Color Balance filters for adjustment of image colors.

  • Color Range Selection of image pixels for precise editing of image.

  • Possibility to add/substract new selection from old selection (with Shift or Alt key pressed when drawing selection).

  • Invert Selection function.

  • Replace Backround Color with Foreground Color function for retouch of Color Map of design.

  • Deselection of 1/2 or 3/4 of selected pixels for creation of color blending in Color Map of design.

  • Cursor coordinates and tool usage hints in status bar.

Please note: sample designs on this web site were not created with just single click. Creation of designs like these requires about 1/2 - 2 hours of experienced user work.
