Use of Sfumato - Advanced Techniques

Color Blending

Sfumato automatically creates blendings of Dark and Light Thread Shades (see dotted areas on below detail of Color Map) and blendings of Darkest Thread Color with Dark Shades of all scales and Lightest Thread Color with Light Shades of all scales.

If you want to create some additional color blending, save the Color Map and open it for editing in Painter instead of original image. Select desired area and then deselect part of pixels to create dotted selection.

Pick color that you want to blend into selected area with right button click (i.e. select this color as Background color). Then use Edit / Delete function from menu to fill selected pixels with background color. Save Color Map to disk and open the original image in Painter again.

Load edited Color Map to Color Map window. Hit preview button. Below picture shows that teal thread is blend into rectangular area on the forehead.

Please note: if you use edited Color Map, part or Sfumato controls will be locked. Therefore adjust parameters that affect Color Map first, and then edit Color Map if necessarry.
