Use of Sfumato - Advanced Techniques

Global Adjustment of Stitch Density

Density of stitches is derived from brightness of image. You can adjust stitches density with Density Curve in More Controls window. Below picture shows Density Curve default settings and corresponding design in Preview window.

If you want dense areas to be even denser, decrease value of Very Dense control (see below picture).

You can achieve similar effect by decreasing of Dense control value (see below picture). In fact, use of this control results in smoother Density Curve than use of Very Dense control. Consequently, the density gradation of design is smoother.
Use Very Dense control if you want the densest areas to be completely filled with stitches. Otherwise, use Dense control.

If you want light areas to be even lighter, increase value of Very Light control (see below picture).

You can achieve similar effect by increasing of Light control value (see below picture). Use of this control results in smoother Density Curve than use of Very Light control. Consequently, the density gradation of design is smoother. Use Very Light control if you want lightest areas to be filled with uniform light fill. If you want stitch density to gradate smoothly from lightest to dense, use Light control.

Please note: if you increase Light (or Very Light) and decrease Dense (or Very Dense), design will be more contrast. For less contrast, decrease Light (or Very Light) and increase Dense (or Very Dense).
